Istria blù

Along the coast of Istria, the largest Croatian peninsula, follow each of the small towns and cities like Umag, Porec, Rovinj, Medulin and many other coastal locations. This coastal strip is popularly called the "Blue Istria". The town of Porec is an ideal place for active holiday, with over 70 kinds of water sports and country.
 
 Medulin, a small resort, a favorite destination of young people and all lovers of fun, live music and dance rhythms. Umag has the title of the sports center by organizing various events and an ATP tournament. Rovinj, situated on a peninsula and Crveni otok (the Red Island), located in front, they offer the possibility of making several trips and explore the coastline full of coves and small beaches. In Rabac there is the beautiful pebble beaches, ideal places for children to play and relax. Pula, dating back to 3000 years ago, proudly presents its historical and cultural beauties, among which stands out the arena, amphitheater, built to hold gladiator fights. There are also numerous archaeological remains and monuments from the Roman period.

 Motovun
 According to legend, was built by giants Motovun, with stones gathered in the valley of the Mirna River. The entire town of Motovun is one large monument and its present appearance dates back to medieval times. There is also the longest Istrian staircase, which goes from the bottom of the
 
 hilltop Motovun, with 1052 steps. In Motovun there are several buildings, located around the square in Venetian style.
 You do not have to be just an art lover to discover all the beauties of this city. In the summer, hosts the Motovun Film Festival, during which, the whole city is full of movie lovers.
 
 
 Buzet and Groznjan
 These two towns are only a dozen miles of each other, so they are a good choice for completing your Istrian excursions and finally a beautiful story about Istria. Groznjan is known as a place where artists meet. If you want to hear the silence must come here. The history of Buzet dates back in Roman times, when it was called Pinquentium. Amongst other things, Buzet, you can also see a Baroque fountain, one of the most beautiful in Istria.
 
 The Brijuni Islands
 The Brijuni archipelago was inhabited even in Roman and Byzantine. The remains of several Roman villas and mosaics demonstrate the attractiveness of the archipelago. The most important remains of Roman villa is located in the bay Veriga. An integral part of the villa were the temples of Neptune and Venus.
 
 On the island of Veli Brijuni today there are about 600 indigenous plant species, mostly Mediterranean. In the northern part of the island is a safari park with deer, zebras, ostriches, giraffes and other animals that live in freedom.
 
 Golfers can enjoy nature and their favorite activity. Absolute highlight is the archipelago by bike along the park offers to visitors.
 
 Venice
 Everybody knows that Venice is considered one of the most romantic cities in the world. This is not surprising because of its bridges, rich palaces of the Renaissance and the Piazza San Marco inspired writers and poets for centuries. Discover Venice in a gondola along the Grand Canal, visit the Bridge of Sighs from which those condemned to death penalty hailed the sun for the last time, take a coffee in Piazza San Marco. If you happen to arrive in winter, forget about the daily life, be transformed into a character of your imagination and join the largest carnival.
 
 Venice was always the symbol of wealth and in the fifteenth century was the center of trade and the largest port city in the world.

 Park Valkanela - Funtana
 Valkanela is a very interesting park, located near the small village of Funtana, near Pula. There is possible to admire the sculptures of the famous Croatian artist, Dusan Dzamonja. Near the park is also a gallery, which houses the rest of his works of art. It 'really nice to walk through this beautiful garden and watch the interesting sculptures that fit very well into the green.
 
 Astronomical Observatory - Visnjan
 
 The Astronomical Observatory Visnjan is a real science center, full of volunteers and students working on astronomy, biology, chemistry, physics and ecology. With the help of a telescope of 40 cm, there were discovered more than 1400 planets rather small. Even you, during your visit, you might see something interesting.
 
 
 Kastel - Svetvicenat
 
 Svetvicenat is a typical Istrian acropolis town located in the vicinity of Pazin. It is located on a plateau, surrounded by woods and vineyards. On top of the town is a castle (Kastel) that we recommend to visit to learn more about the typical architecture of Green Istria. The town owes its name to the martyr of Spanish origin, S. Vincent, the patron of the city.
